Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Calvary Hill Church - TN based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Mankind
Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.
The Church
At Calvary Hill, we are part of the Church of God which is rooted in the "Full Gospel"—the belief that the power of God seen in the New Testament is still active and available to us today.
The Essentials
The Bible: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority for how we live and serve.
The Trinity:
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
Salvation:
We believe that everyone has sinned but can be made new through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. This "new birth" is the starting point of our walk with God.
Our Distinctive
Sanctification & Holiness:
We believe that after we are saved, God continues to work in our hearts to set us apart for His use. We strive to live in "Holiness," which is God’s standard of living for His people.
Baptism with the Holy Spirit:
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience following salvation, empowering us for service. This is often accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
Divine Healing:
We believe that God still heals today and that provision for physical healing was made through Christ's sacrifice.
The Second Coming:
We look forward to the "Blessed Hope"—the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Practices (Ordinances)
We follow the biblical examples of:
Water Baptism by Immersion
The Lord’s Supper (Communion)
Washing of the Saints' Feet (a beautiful sign of humility and service to one another).
Ressurection
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
